 We are using the Your Health program by Harcourt.  Our health studies are broken into eight chapters.

Each chapter we will have a new project.
These projects will be used as the assessment for the chapter as opposed to a formal test.

Chapter Project

1 - August

Feelings Booklet - Illustrate as many feelings as you can think of and put them into a booklet.  Students must show at least 5 feelings.
2 - September Family Book  - Make a book showing things families can do togther.  Students may use magazine images, thier own art and family photos to create this book.
3 - October Fitness Game - Plan a fitness game for your class to play that includes several kinds of exercises.
4 - November Food Display - Using pictures from magazines, food lables, and grocery ads, make a display about foods you need to stay healthy.
December NO PROJECT
5 - January Create a Germ-Fighting Brochure - Using pictures from magazines or your own illustrations display how people can prevent the spread of germs.
6- February Drug Posters - Make a poster that shows how medicines can help the body or how other drugs can harm the body.
7 - March Make a Model - Make a life-sized model of yourself on butcher paper and draw the body organs that are affected by alcohol and tobacco.
8 -April Safety Collage - Make a collage showing ways to stay safe using photos, personal drawings or magazine pictures.
9 - May Resuse Classroom Items - Make a plan for resusing items in the classroom.  Decide which to keep for art or other classroom projects and which to share with other classes.
